How to easily read the very first message you sent on Facebook

It is sometime nice to get back in time and read old conversations you had with someone. Facebook is getting old and many people are on this website since a few years now.

There is a really easy way to do this, but also really slow. You could simply go into a conversation and scroll until you reach the first message, but if you have more than 1000 messages with that person, it would be a really long task to achieve.  Here is a quicker method:

Step 1

Step 2

Click on the person you want to read messages.

Step 3

You will notice a URL similar to this https://m.facebook.com/messages/read/?tid=mid.1397623118293%3Adc9b0ebddcb4e1de84
Simply add “&start=NUMBER” to this URL and press enter (where NUMBER is the number of message you think you had with this person). If your number is higher than the actual number of message you had with this person, you will not be able to see any messages. If your number is lower, then you will see messages and the link “See older messages…” will display. It is a sign that you can increase the number.

The trick here is to play with this number to get as close as possible as your number of messages. Start with a random number, let say 1000. If you still see the text “See older messages…”, your number is not high enough, so try 2000 instead. If no messages are displaying, then you know that the number you are looking for is between 1000 and 2000. Then try 1500 and repeat the experience. When you are in a gap of 100 (for example at 1400 you have still more messages to load, but at 1500 nothing is appearing), then use the lowest number (in this example it would be 1400) and press the link “See older messages…” until you get to the first message. An example of the URL would be the following:https://m.facebook.com/messages/read/?tid=mid.1397623118293%3Adc9b0ebddcb4e1de84&start=1400
It looks complicated, but try it and you will see that this is a really easy trick to do. Have fun retrieving those old messages!
